Open 24 Hours

OK, immature as it is, I'm really enjoying DadLabs, which is a good thing, because I collaborated with them to create a segment on the hormonal changes men experience when they become fathers, out soon. Stay tuned.

Wow, these guys are actually trying to sell stuff. I'm not sure what. But in the meantime, my son doesn't mind watching the videos, although he gets bored when I type comments so gotta go...

They're not selling stuff; Baby Bjorn is their sponsor. Otherwise, it's pretty much all jokes and parenting tips.

Interesting tidbit: When DadLabs and Baby Bjorn were courting each other, Baby Bjorn flew the DadLabs guys to Sweden to meet with elected officials, father activists, etc.--it seems that the company is trying to evangelize the Swedish way of fatherhood to an American market.

Don't get me wrong, I have no objection to selling stuff, I sell stuff, practically everyone I know sells stuff. So when I read the "About" blurb on the DadLabs website and they say that they're a "company" and produce "products," some of which are for retail, I naturally wonder what exactly these products are.

But you've kind of answered the question for me with your tidbit about "evangelizing the Swedish way of fatherhood to an American market", which is actually brilliant PR for Baby Bjorn, as I'm sure Baby Bjorn understands.

If you can't use sex, which sells everything else, jokes and parenting tips will work too!

I see. Well, you've done a lot more reading on their site than I have! I have no idea what they mean by products. I know they have a book coming out in June. Is that a product?

Maybe they don't know what their products are yet, which would explain why they call themselves a startup. Or maybe they are polishing the video content they will be submitting to the blockbuster reality TV show I'll be producing with Ryan Seacrest, "Who Wants to Be A Daddy Millionaire?" Or maybe this is what IT/media guys do in a recession to keep their resumes active.

In any case, I fear this is the leading edge of IKEA-Baby Bjorn market imperialism, the return of Gustavus Adolphus.

Books are things that sit on shelves and that people talk about when they're not reading on the internet.

Brilliant. Nothing like a little levity with a kick for daddies once in a while, with a tip or two to boot.

(Thank God I still read books too.)
